— an account on your terms —

Delete your Top Townie account.

You can delete your account at any time. There are two paths depending on whether you still have the app installed. Both routes end in the same 30-day process.

in the app

If you have the app.

The fastest path. Open Top Townie on your phone and follow these steps:

  1. Open Top Townie.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm on the next screen.

You'll be signed out immediately. Your account enters a 30-day grace period — see below for what that means.

via support

If you no longer have the app.

Email support from the email address you used to sign up:

Support will verify your identity and initiate deletion on your behalf. We don't collect deletion requests through a web form — a form that accepts an email and triggers deletion would be an abuse vector, so we route these through a human instead.

What actually happens when you delete.

Deletion runs in two phases:

Phase 1 — Request (immediate). Your account is marked as scheduled for deletion and you are signed out. If you change your mind, sign back in within 30 days and you'll see a "Cancel deletion" option that restores everything.

Phase 2 — Finalization (30 days later). If you haven't cancelled, a scheduled job deletes your likes, bookmarks, follows, and business memberships; scrubs personal identifiers from fraud-prevention records; anonymizes your user row; and deletes your authentication account, your PostHog event history, and any user-scoped media.

Three things to be clear about. These statements also appear in the app's deletion confirmation screen, our Google Play Data Safety disclosure, and our Apple App Store privacy labels:

  1. "Businesses you manage are public entity data and will remain, unclaimed, after your account is deleted."
  2. "Verification and dispute records are retained for fraud prevention; your personal identifiers are removed."
  3. "Deletion cannot be undone. Re-registering creates a new account — your old account cannot be restored."
